I count on the Holy Trinity to whisper, nudge, and point me in the direction needed to get what needs to be done. I have done this for years and when I have missed a day or two, it shows. Holy Spirit always brings the answers, most often through people, through their suggestions, comments, and actions.

As a unique individual, I turn to my God. He’s always there in prayer. The Holy Spirit and Jesus support and push me to continue my Rule of Life. Prayer and service are always before me. For five years I’ve been reading and re-reading Joan Chittister’s “The Rule of Benedict”. My church has a weekly Contemplative Prayer meeting which I have been involved with for about 7 years now. I also like to use the National Handbook for the Prayers and Meditations. I follow the Prayer Book’s Daily Office reading schedule for the Bible. REPRESENTATIVE TO TRIENNIAL:

ALEXA K. HOKANSON

Diocese: Arizona

Chapter: None, Daughter-at-Large

Number of years a Daughter: 5 years

             Questions for the Nominee

Have you read the job description and are you willing and able to perform the duties outlined?

Yes, with God’s help.

What specifically qualifies you for the position you are standing for?

I’m genuinely devoted to my life as a DOK. I believe in doing what I can, especially when called or asked to serve. I’m

dependable, organized, and have professional work experience which assists my efforts for the church and clergy. I’ve

attended lay retreats and have been a member of more than one vestry. I’ve attended diocesan general conventions

as both a delegate and alternate. I’ve attended DOK Diocesan Assemblies and one province assembly. I was most

inspired by hearing Katharine Jefferts Schori speak at the province meeting last year when she said, “Just show up.”

As Daughters looking to serve Christ, we should not over think our qualifications but simply be there. I am active on

the AZ Diocesan Prison Ministry Team. Having no children or care giver responsibilities, I am fairly available to travel

to triennial. I am also in good health enabling me to commit to triennial at this time.

To whom do you turn when you need guidance and spiritual support?

I turn in prayer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I attend Eucharist. I read works recommended by other Daughters

or people I meet through church related experiences. I seek silence and meditate on what’s confronting me at the

time. I engage in reading my prayer book. I know that my DOK Sister Susan Bray Anderson, numerous priests and

deacon friends are ‘there’ for me, anytime I need them.
